Who We Are
Our Mission & Vision
Helping connect people to faith
At Bardstown United Methodist, our purpose is helping people find, follow, and be like Jesus. We hold in common with all Christians a faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ. At the heart of the gospel of salvation is God’s incarnation in Jesus of Nazareth. Everyone is welcome to come worship with us and join us in fellowship and study of God’s Word.
Our History
For over 160 years this church has stood at the intersection of Flaget and 2nd Street in the center of Bardstown. Within this building, the people of God have experienced the pain of slavery, the devastation of fire and the brokenness of the human spirit. Yet the building has never fallen and the people have never faltered. This body of believers is made up of those who continue to serve and live into God’s promises of redemption. It is a centuries old story that we have chosen to live out on this corner. By His grace and by His love we will continue to touch the lives of our community for another 160 years!
What We Believe
We hold in common with all Christians a faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ. At the heart of the gospel of salvation is God’s incarnation in Jesus of Nazareth. Scripture witnesses to the redeeming love of God in Jesus’ life and teachings, his atoning death, his resurrection, his sovereign presence in history, his triumph over the powers of evil and death, and his promised return. Because God truly loves us in spite of our willful sin, God judges us, summons us to repentance, pardons us, receives us by that grace given to us in Jesus Christ, and gives us hope of life eternal.
