What We Do

Room in the Inn

Every Wednesday night into Thursday morning during the months of October through March our local church body partners with Room in the Inn Nelson County as a host location for homeless individuals, who we believe are image-bearers of God.

We provide food, shelter, showers, laundry, and fellowship. It is our mission and purpose to share the love of Christ to others as Christ has shown His love for us.

Operation Christmas Child

For the past 6 years, Bardstown UMC has participated in Operation Christmas Child, a children’s evangelism project of Samaritan’s Purse. This shoebox ministry has grown from 64 shoebox gifts packed in 2017 to 750 shoebox gifts (physical boxes and BASBO) in 2022! OCC has become a year round ministry effort by emphasizing an “Item of the Month” and our many savvy shoppers buy quality shoebox gifts throughout the year. October becomes “packing party” time when we pack quality shoebox gifts before National Collection Week, the third week of November. We love making an eternal difference in the lives of children around the world with this fun, easy yet effective tool in sharing the gospel.

Since 1993, over 200 million boys and girls in more than 170 countries and territories have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ and Great Joy to these precious children around the world.

Red Bird

Red Bird Mission was founded in 1921 in the southeastern corner of Kentucky to provide education and Christian evangelism ministries to residents of the area. Today the need remains critical in this isolated, rural distressed area. Chronic poverty, lack of jobs, poor housing, and rugged mountainous terrain provide obstacles to a fuller life for the residents of this area. Red Bird Mission and Clinic strives to meet these needs through ministry in five areas: Education, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach, Economic Opportunity, and Community Housing Improvement. Support for these ministries come from churches and individuals across the nation. Your donations to Red Bird Mission and Clinic will help us continue these vital ministries in this distressed region of Appalachia.

KY Methodist Children’s Home

For over 150 years, Kentucky Methodist Children’s Homes have served children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or trauma. They currently offer residential treatment, independent living, community-based services, and adoption services.
When a month has 5 Sundays, our church uses this extra day for a special offering to support the KY Methodist Children’s Home but you can donate anytime.

Easter Egg Hunt

In April of 2023 we had our Annual Easter Egg Hunt out at our 2nd campus located at 5100 Louisville Rd.  Ninty-eight families enjoyed Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Drinks and Bouncy Houses. The Easter Bunny and a Gorilla rode in on motorcycles and kids were able to get their picture with them. We shared the Gospel story, then 195 kids hunted for 7000 eggs. We separated the egg hunting fields into 3 age groups so they received age appropriate candy and toys. After the egg hunt we raffled off 10 Bikes, 10 Bibles and 3 Giant Easter Eggs full of candy! 2023 was our biggest year yet and we hope to continue to offer this fun event to our community in the years to come.
